Act Now to Save Outdoor School in Oregon: Sign the Petition!

Helping our kids connect with the outdoors and natural world is one of the best ways we can ensure they become healthy, well-rounded adults.

In Oregon, Outdoor School has been a tradition for more than 50 years. The opportunity has given nearly a million children a chance to learn first-hand about science and our state’s precious natural resources by getting them out of the classroom and into the outdoors. And that’s just the start. A full week of Outdoor School also teaches independence and leadership skills, how to work as a team and forge new friendships. It inspires kids, ignites discovery, encourages them to be more active and for some, it can even help set a more positive course in school.

As kids today now spend more than 7 hours a day glued to electronic devices, Outdoor School proves to them that the world doesn’t just revolve around a flat screen by opening their eyes to new possibilities and discoveries.

But the sad fact is that not all kids in Oregon have the opportunity to attend Outdoor School. This beloved program has been cut drastically and greatly reduced due to lack of funding.  Now, a grassroots effort called Outdoor School for All is seeking to put a measure on the November 2016 ballot to ensure consistent funding for Outdoor School statewide.

The time to act is now and the need is urgent. For the sake of kids throughout Oregon, please sign the petition to Save Outdoor School today.
